WHAT IS THIS BLOG ABOUT?

The objectives of this blog are to record proven and practical approaches to problem solving I have used; in a way that provides an easy to access library of methods procedures, tools and techniques and a forum for discussion; so that the quality of problem specification, decision making and solution definitions is improved.
I am trying to address the sometimes disastrous outcomes that result from:
- ill-defined or nonexistent objectives
- entrenched thinking models
- institutional and elite problem solving approaches
- group think and herd mentality
- solving the wrong problem
- not keeping the end in sight
- managing rather than solving problems
In writing this blog I have drawn on personal experience, the experience of people I have worked with and other resources such as publications of various types.
As the blog expands I will provide links to these resources .
I hope you learn something that you can use can use in your everyday problem solving activities, I will endeavor to make blog as entertaining as possible.

As a passionate reader and advocate for independent bookstores, I believe that where we buy our books matters. That’s why I’ve partnered with Bookshop.org—an online bookseller that not only makes it easy to discover and purchase great reads but also directly supports local, independent bookshops.
Unlike large corporate retailers, Bookshop.org ensures that a portion of every sale goes to independent bookstores, helping them thrive in an increasingly digital world. By shopping through my affiliate links, you’re not just getting a great book—you’re also helping to sustain literary communities and keep the joy of books alive in neighborhood shops.
Where you see this button and notification you will be linked to BookShop.org and the book being mentioned or reviewed.

The button above is an affiliate link. If you purchase a book through my Bookshop.org link, I may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you! Your purchase helps support independent bookstores. Thank you!
Occasionally you may see another link, this will enable you to search for similar books or authors.
